Looking for Centipede Grass Information?
My yard (front and back) is 80% Centipede Grass. Just like any lawn, I have areas that grow better than others, but my main concern is the front yard. I read that “Intensive Management” over a period of 4 to 5 years results in root die-back in the spring. I believe this to be the front yard's problem (former owner's family would cut the grass once a week with the mover blade lowered to it's lowest position). Those who have purchased this grass, in any form (seed or sod) know this grass is expensive.
Centipede is unlike most grass, as it grows almost like a vine, not a blade. If you don't keep a eye on the grass, you'll soon be “weeding” your driveway or walkways. Trying to save myself a little money, I would like to know if I transplant a runner (root and all) to a bare spot in the yard, will it grow? Thanks.
